Classes
Senior Summer School strives to bring you a very diverse cross-section of academic offerings. The most popular lectures are always those involving current events and politics. Local history is our next most popular topic. From there, we cover a wide range of liberal arts topics with a decent sprinkling of health and nutrition, science and history. We also like to highlight the best, the brightest and the unique of each location. Our goal is to challenge your mindset, intrigue your sensibilities, incite & satisfy curiosity and lastly, to simply entertain.
We hire all professors and instructors from the colleges and universities in the area – with a great percentage of them coming from our host university. Instructors will also include local professionals with expertise in a particular area, and local talents and celebrities to showcase all the area has to offer. That said, many professors will not commit until their summer schedules are set and know they are both in town and available. We will list classes on the website as they are confirmed.
There are no marks, grades or attendance requirements. The only requirement is a desire to learn and experience something new!
Classes are scheduled several times a day during the week. The typical class times are 9am, 10:30am, and 2pm. With some evening lectures. Classes run for 1-2 hours with time for questions and discussion.
Each day will vary and be a mix of classes, sightseeing trips, and entertainment throughout each location and session.
See our example schedule for the basic format of a typical session.
